Yep, sharpdevelop is interesting. I have taken a first look at Monodevelop, somebody needs to compare them and write a post about it :)

One small note. While technically it is possible to develop plug ins for the Visual Studio Express editions. Legally it&#039;s not. And this is not some hypothetical legal issue either. Microsoft has sent cease and desist letters when Jamie Cansdale tried to support express editions with Testdriven.Net.
